How to Measure Your Wrist for a Bead Bracelet

Why Fit Matters

A bracelet that fits is the difference between a piece you reach for every day and one that sits in a drawer. Because our bead bracelets are made to a fixed inner diameter rather than stretch-to-fit, getting your wrist size right before you order is the single most useful thing you can do. Here is the method we recommend.

What You Need

You only need a flexible tailor’s tape measure, or a strip of paper or string and a ruler. That is it.

Step by Step

From Wrist Size to Bracelet Size

We size bracelets by inner diameter, not by how far they stretch. Add a little ease so the bracelet slides on comfortably and rests without cutting in. Use the table below, which we also keep on our size guide page.

Which Bead Count Should You Pick

Bead bracelets are traditionally strung in set counts. A single-wrap wrist bracelet usually uses 14 to 21 beads depending on the bead diameter; 18-bead and 21-bead formats are the most common wrist malas. A full 108-bead mala is a long strand worn wrapped several times around the wrist or as a necklace, and it is sized by total length rather than wrist circumference. If you are not sure which count suits you, send us your wrist measurement and we will recommend one.

When in Doubt, Size Up

A bracelet that is slightly loose is far more comfortable than one that is tight. If your measurement lands between two sizes, choose the larger inner diameter.

Common Measuring Mistakes

Fixed Inner Diameter vs Stretch

Some bracelets use elastic and feel forgiving, but our bead bracelets are sized to a fixed inner diameter for a clean, secure fit and a longer cord life. That is why we ask for your wrist measurement up front rather than relying on stretch. If you are between two sizes after using the table, the larger inner diameter is the safer choice.

A Quick Final Check

Once your bracelet arrives, you should be able to slide it on with a gentle push and feel it rest on the wrist without pinching. If it leaves a deep red mark, it is too small; if it slides past your hand and spins freely, it is too large. A correct fit sits snugly, moves only when you want it to, and stays comfortable from morning to night.
